Delhi Daredevils vs Rajasthan Royals
32nd T20 Venue: Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi Time: 02:30 PM GMT, 08:00 PM IST
It’s the return to a familiar hell hole for Delhi Daredevils. After a brief ray of hope, when they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders at home, a defeat, even if the final result was flattering to Shreyas Iyer’s side, brought them crashing back down. Now, they’re back at the bottom again, four points away from fourth place, and with a number of tricky games coming up.
What works in Delhi Daredevils’ favour is that five of their next six games are at home. The downside is that three out of the lot come against teams currently placed one and two. But the games against CSK and SRH will pale in significance if Delhi don’t come out victors against Rajasthan Royals, who have blown hot and cold this edition.
Ajinkya Rahane’s team are currently fifth in the table, with a game in hand over fourth-placed KKR. The loss to SRH in the last game, a game they should have won, has put them out of the top four, but RR will know that they are just a win away from staying within touching distance of the top four.
It may not just be do-or-die for both teams, but with so much riding on the contest, it could just be the kind of game that has it all.
How Many Points They Got:
PLAY 7, WIN 3, LOST 4, POINT 6
PLAY 8, WIN 2, LOST 6 POINT 4
What to expect:
A hot evening with chances of rain.
The Daredevils, in all likelihood, will stick to the same XI that they’ve played with in the last two days.
Delhi Daredevils Player’s:
Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro, Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, Rishabh Pant, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Liam Plunkett, Amit Mishra, Avesh Khan, Trent Boult
Rajasthan Royals are still struggling to get their openers to fire in tandem but what will concern them more is the lack of significant contributions from their overseas players, particularly Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. But despite their loss, the combination might not undergo much change.
Rajasthan Royals Players:
Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Tripathi, Sanju Samson, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Mahipal Lomror, K Gowtham, Jofra Archer, Dhawal Kulkarni, Ish Sodhi, Jaydev Unadkat
Both DD and RR boast of a strong batting line-up but only one has delivered on a consistent basis. Considering the fact that DD have more batsmen in form and will be playing at home, they will undoubtedly go into this game as favorites. But if RR’s overseas players turn up this will be a high-scoring encounter that will go down to the wire. Still, home advantage and in-form players means that DD will be looking favorites to get the win to get off the bottom.
